Seminole and Disney Not Giving up on Fighting the Florida Gambling ExpansionWhile states are trying to pass laws to legalize sports betting, Florida is still trying to expand their gambling laws. However, several organizations are trying to keep gambling from expanding in Florida.  At the forefront of the battle are Disney and the Seminole tribe. This is because Seminole and Disney Not Giving up on Fighting the Florida Gambling Expansion.

According to Sports Betting Software outlets, Florida will hold general elections in November to decide on the Amendment.  Amendment 3 would be a roadblock for that gambling expansion as it would put the decision in the hands of. Thus, Disney and the Seminole Tribe of Florida are set on making Amendment 3 pass with large donations.

Just last September, the Seminole Tribe of Florida and Disney donated $10 million to fight the gambling expansion.  In addition, they are looking into donating another $10 million to change voter opinion about the gambling expansion.

Different Reasons for the same Goal

Even though Disney and the Seminole Tribe two unlikely allies in the fight to stop the Florida Gambling Expansion.  However, despite their differences, they are united in this goal.

Disney wants to stop the gambling expansion because they want to keep Florida a family friendly state.  In addition, they do not want Florida to be known as a casino friendly state.  This is because it would go against the family-friendly environment Disney is all about.

On the other hand, the Seminole Tribe wants to stop the expansion because it will break their gambling monopoly.

One twist in the Florida Legislature is the decision to pass Amendment 3.  Normally, the legislature would decide on the Gambling expansion but if Amendment 3 passes, Floridian voters decide on it. The two main obstacles for this amendment are “Vote NO on 3” and Citizens for the Truth About Amendment 3”.  In addition, both of these groups have a lot of financial support from several gambling entities.
