A year ago, Hard Rock International made gambling headlines by announcing their intention to purchase the Mirage in Las Vegas. If it took place, it would become the first tribal entity to operate a casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Earlier this month, Hard Rock International gave the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) their vision for the Mirage. Of course, HRI gave them their iconic guitar-shape hotel which would be 36-story high and add 1,000 rooms to the hotel. Afterwards, they were only missing the final approval from the NGCB. Last Friday, they did receive it and on Monday, HRI officially took control of the Mirage from MGM Resorts International.
According to Bookie Software websites, the 3,044-room casino resort will temporarily continue to operate as the Mirage Hotel and Casino. This is because HRI first wants to complete the renovation and branding of the hotel. HRI representatives estimate constructions will begin in late 2023. Furthermore, they expect the renovation will take several years to complete.
Even though the renovation process will be very time-consuming, it will dramatically reimagine every aspect of the resort. In addition, it will definitively change the Las Vegas skyline with the addition of a guitar-shape hotel!
Hard Rock International Completes the Acquisition of the Mirage for $1.07 Billion
According to gambling news, HRI paid the sum of $1.075 billion in cash to acquire the Mirage. The cost of the purchase is for all of the operating assets of the Mirage Hotel and Casino. Furthermore, HRI got into a long-term lease agreement with VICI Properties Inc. for the real estate property of The Mirage.
Jim Allen, Chairman, Hard Rock International, was very happy with the acquisition. In addition, he said that the new resort “will make this legendary entertainment community proud”. Furthermore, he gave thanks to the Nevada Gaming Control Board and the Nevada Gaming Commission for their approval.
The normal operations of the Mirage will continue as normal for the foreseeable future. In addition, all room reservations and group bookings will remain the same by guests or group organizers.
