Up to 11 Sportsbooks will open in Indiana in September

Up to 11 Sportsbooks will open in Indiana in SeptemberNow that sport betting is legal in Indiana, sportsbooks are getting ready for the start of the regular NFL season. Thus, according to several sources, up to 11 Sportsbooks will open in Indiana for September.  Out of those 11, two sportsbooks are hoping to open before the NFL season starts. As to the rest, they are hoping that they will be able to start taking bets later in the month.

At the moment, 8 sportsbooks have made announcements that they are planning to open their doors in September. In addition, Ameristar Casino East Chicago said they expect to launch on September 1, 2019.  The next sportsbook to open in September will be Horseshoe Hammond Casino.  According to their press release, their sportsbook will open on September 4.

No Confirmation Dates from Indiana Gaming Commission

Despite the press releases from casinos and sportsbooks in Indiana, the Indiana Gaming Commission has not made any confirmations. This is because they said that so far, no operators have yet met all of the IGS’s regulatory requirements.

Gambling experts also believe that it is unlikely that online sports wagering will be available in September.  This is because of the sportsbook software requirements for event restrictions. Furthermore, Ameristar and Penn National Gambling have not yet made any announcements in regards to online sports betting. It is likely that they will start with the onsite sports wagering booths and later offer to mobile wagering.

According to their press release, the Ameristar East Chicago Sportsbook will be near the casino’s Sports Bar and Grill.  It will have a wagering counter; betting kiosk and a ticket write station.  In addition, they plan on having Mike Ditka and Devein Hester place the first sports bets for their grand opening.

A total of 14 locations have been given permission to take bets in Indiana.  However, only 11 of them have said they would try to open in September.  The locations with permissions to take sports bets are:
