Which State will have Sports Betting Available by 2023

States that will Have Sports Betting Available by 2023 – the LowdownIt’s been 4 years since the Supreme Court struck down the law that made sports betting illegal everywhere except Nevada. Since then, it’s been the wild west in the U.S. gambling sector as its popularity rise at an incredible pace. Needless to say, it is no longer a matter of if for most state but a matter of when. In this sports gambling report, we go over Which State will have Sports Betting Available by 2023.

At the moment, 30 of 50 state have legal sports betting available within their borders. Out of the 50 states, 7 of them have a law legalizing sports wagering but with the actual launch still pending. In total, it leaves 23 states that still do not have a legal sports betting law in place. However, most of them have been attempting to legalize gambling on sports in one way or another.

Meanwhile, this has led to a sharp increase in the number of people opening a sportsbook in the U.S. Interestingly enough, despite the increase in licensed sportsbooks in the U.S., offshore sportsbooks are still as popular as ever. According to gambling insiders, this is because most offshore sportsbooks do have regulations to abide by.  The main difference is that there are no federal or state interference which allows them to give their players more.

For those eager to see a sportsbook open up near you, here are the states with the closest legal outlook.

States that will Have Sports Betting Available by 2023 – the Lowdown

California – As one of the most populous State, Pay Per Head and gambling operators are keeping a close eye on them. This is because in November, Californians will be voting on Prop 26 and Prop 27 which would legalize sports betting. However, if one passes, do not expect to place a bet on sport in California until 2023 or 2024.

Kansas – Kansas is one of the few states that is making sports betting available as soon as possible. This is because sports gambling became legal in May of 2022. Unlike other states, Kansans will be able to bet on football just 4 months after the signing of the bill. Expect the first legal sports bet in Kansas to take place on September 1 of this year!

Ohio – The Ohio gambling commission says sports betting will be available by January 1, 2023. Recently Ohio has been making a lot of noise after approving its first 200 sports betting licenses. Ohio is probably the slowest state to get sports betting going as it became legal in 2021.

Massachusetts – To the surprise of many, sports betting became legal in Massachusetts this year. However, it was a nice surprise to sports gamblers in the state.  While there is no set date for its launch, gambling analysts believe it will happen by 2023.

Maine – Technically speaking, betting on sports in Maine became legal on August 8 of 2022. However, the Maine Gambling Control Unit is taking its time making it available to the public. While they expect it to be available in 2023, they said it could take as long as January of 2024.
